The primitive parish church of Castellnovo was located in what is now the town's mill, in the Plaza del Olmo itself.

At the express wish of Beatriz de Borja, attending to family devotion, the church was placed under the dedication of the Holy Kings. In 1507, when the Gandía collegiate church was expanded, María Enríquez, widow of Juan de Borja, had already decided to offer its main chapel to this dedication.

On the semicircular arch of the main door there is a stone inscription that confirms the date of construction of the new temple: September 24, 1662.

Subsequently, the church was reformed in the 18th century, giving it a transept, decorated with wall paintings of the time.

The Renaissance-style building, with a Latin cross plan, is organized into three naves with side chapels and divided into five sections.

In the side chapels are located five altars dedicated to San Antonio Abad, Sacred Heart of Jesus, Holy Christ of Agony, Virgin of Agony and the Sorrowful and the Reclining Christ.

The tower, topped with a dome with green ceramic tiles, is part of the façade and consists of two bodies.
