The Palau

Seat of the archdeacon of Xàtiva, dignity of the collegiate church held by a canon of the cathedral of Valencia.

Located at the beginning of Carrer de l'Ardiaca, which ascends from the Plaza de la Seo towards the mountain, is the building that the people of Setabense know as the Palau, the former archdeacon's palace.

In reality it is the remains of a more complex construction of which a small room from the 14th century has come down to us, with four corbeled transverse arches and a trifora window with semicircular arches and crude mullioned windows.

The street door is voussoired and is three times emblazoned with the Borgias coat of arms.

The Palau was the seat of the archdeacon of Xàtiva, dignity of the Collegiate Church that always held a canon of the cathedral of Valencia.
