The Town Hall

Building from the end of the 17th century, located in the old Plaza Mayor, where the main roads of the town cross.
The Town Hall was designed to meet the needs of the time: meeting room or consistory, audience, oratory, file for documents, jail with housing for the warden and a fish market.
It is a structure made up of a gallery with seven rectangular openings and balconies on as many arcades with pilasters and semicircular arches, built entirely of ashlar stone.
The façade belongs to the French Baroque, rationalist, and classical styles. In the center stands a monumental coat of arms of Spain, dating from 1688.
A brick turret emerges at each end, with semicircular balconies and oculi, which give the building elevation and verticality.
In the session room are the bust and reliquary of Santa María Magdalena, patron saint of the city, a relic from the monastery of Santa María de Nájera.
